Spain Appoints Prosegur Crypto to Manage Seized Digital Assets
Spain's Ministry of the Interior has selected Prosegur Crypto, the institutional custody division of Prosegur Cash, to oversee seized cryptocurrency assets. The firm will handle registration, storage, and conversion to fiat under judicial orders, centralizing a previously fragmented process.
Prosegur crypto employs military-grade encryption and offline cold storage protocols to secure private keys. Its air-gapped systems allow blockchain transactions without direct internet exposure, aligning with Europe's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework.
The partnership reflects growing institutional demand for compliant digital asset solutions as tokenization gains traction across European markets. "Our security infrastructure meets the exacting standards required by public entities," said José Ángel Fernández Freire, CEO of Prosegur Crypto.
